Super cute stuff, Rachel! Absolutely a precious moment.

I’m a bit bummed that this was shot at f/6.3 and 70mm, though, since the moment itself would have been much more impactfully captured at 135-200mm and wide open at f/2.8.

Some moments and scenes are indeed better off shot a bit wider to include more of the environment, and stopped down a bit to actually allow the scene to “envelop” the subjects. In this case, it would have been appropriate to shoot this way if the subjects were looking off into the woods, instead of back at the camera. But the moment they turn to look back, that’s when the photo becomes all about their smiling faces, and I would be cranking my zoom in and opening up my aperture. It takes practice to be able to change settings so rapidly, let alone to remember which style of shooting lends itself better to which type of moment, but it’s obvious that you’re certainly well on your way to mastering the whole process! Thanks again for sharing. :-)

Thank you so much for the suggestions!  I will try to remember to do that next time!
