    Yes, do keep the “rules are meant to be broken” mantra in mind. However, the fingers at the bottom of the frame are definitely the first thing I notice. I do wish the whole hand had been included.

      I get that, I think this photo was too cute though and really think it could sell – would I of liked the whole hand in there yes but I have to make do with what I got sometimes!

      Yup, chances are, in the eyes of a client, …it’s all about the cute eyes and expression! That’s what they’ll see, and that’s what they’ll want to buy. Just try and log certain things away for future reference. Especially in scenes like this where shallow DOF isn’t critical; and a massive billboard print isn’t likely either… you can afford to step back a bit and frame more “loosely”, so that you can do your final exact crop later…
