    Solid shot, Mark, and the crop is perfect for a headshot! I think being horizontal makes it more useful in general.

    When the background is blank like this, shoot at whatever aperture you want! Getting everything sharp is a good idea, when the client says they are particular about that kind of stuff in the rest of their wardrobe. The ultra-shallow, eyes-in-focus type shots are best for environmental portraiture, where your background is a clutter that you WANT to “kill” with shallow DOF.

    So, nicely done here. If you shot a vertical, I hope it included even more of her jacket / hair, of course?

    Thanks Matthew.  No, no vertical shot but I’d love to do it. Just isn’t enough time.  Horizontal is needed as the parents buy photo buttons from these images and I don’t want to miss out on those sales.
