    Hi Justin, thanks for submitting this image to SLR Lounge’s premium critiques! I think that while you’ve got a great image here, when it comes to the specific assignment of balancing ambient and flash for NATURAL effect, …don’t be afraid to brighten up the ambient light a little bit, and also darken the flash a little bit. For example, raising the ISO up one stop, and then lowering the flash two stops, might make the image more natural.

    Having said that, this is a great job overall of lighting. It does bother me a little bit that the subject is not looking right at the camera; if it is meant to be a portrait then I would prefer to have eye contact, and if it is a candid moment then I would prefer to see more context in the image (a horizontal frame, with other people around the main subject) to show /why/ they are looking away from the camera.
