    Fantastic shot, Jerri! Nicely done all around, although yeah it’s hard to get both pets and kids to look at the camera all at once. Honestly, I often wind up just compositing shots sometimes, which helps if you’re shooting from a tripod.

    As a general rule, I try not to allow horizon lines to intersect people’s heads right near the top, it allows the background to compete for attention just a little bit more. So for this shot I would have either gotten just a bit higher or a bit lower. Sometimes only a few inches can make all the difference.

    If you know you are shooting with a dog, take a squeaky toy…it may just be enough to get the dog to look or it will run towards you!! Dave

    I like the colour cohesiveness you have achieved with their clothing! Something I guess you talked to them about. Good job! Personally I think it generally looks better when there are more ‘plan patterns’ like the ladies top compared to more ‘busy’ stripes and checks……Dave
