For this image, I was also in a big hurry. People were going to start entering the hall soon. I had my big light, my Alien Bees 1600 with a battery pack in a light stand, standard reflector, I would simply line up a shot, and point the light to ward the adjacent wall and bounce. The room was large enough that light bounced off a wall toward the cake, wouldn’t affect much of the rest of the room, at leas not at the angle I was using it. I found it an effective tool for lighting a lot of a little of the room. If I had the chance to go back, I would try using a smaller flash with a medium shoot through umbrella, less equipment and less weight is always better.
