Crazy Deal on Tiffen Variable ND, Canon Pixma Printers, and Bescor Video Lights| Deal Dash

By Anthony Thurston on August 23rd 2015

This is our daily deals report where we will feature a deal, or deals, that we think you should know about.

Tiffin 77mm Variable ND

Variable ND filters are a bit of a polarizing topic in photographer circles, you either like them or you don’t. The pros are the ease of use, being able to adjust the ND effect to taste like salt on a good steak. The negatives are that, in many cases, they become unusable at their higher settings, and some have a tendency to add a color shift to your images.

The Tiffen Variable ND is one of our favorites due to its solid build quality, optical quality, and minimal color cast. Usually in the $150 range, today only (while supplies last) you can grab their 77mm variety over on B&H for just $99 – with an additional $30 mail-in rebate – making your final price only $69.95 – an absolutely KILLER deal.

Make sure to jump on over to B&H and grab this one while you still can!

Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Wireless Printer

Having a good printer is not as important these days as it was in the past. Many of us use digital contracts, digital brochures, digital price lists, etc. But if you run a studio and have an actual business front for clients to come to, chances are, you still have a need for a good printer (at least occasionally), be it for printing contracts or price lists, or maybe a sample image onto some photo paper.

The Canon PIXMA PRO-100 is a wireless printer capable of being tucked away anywhere in your space that it can get a wireless connection. It is also capable of some really beautiful prints, obviously not real photo quality but about as good as an inkjet can be (which for many things isn’t bad at all). It is also a steal currently, at only $150 after a $250 rebate.

If you are interested, you can find it over on B&H here.

Bescor FP-180 Bi-Color LED Video Light

A kick of light here or a dash of light there can be the difference between a great shot or a mediocre shot when shooting video. In video, just as with stills, it is often the smallest details that can really take a scene (or image) to another level, and having access to small, dimmable lights can make this process so much easier.

The Bescor FP-180 is a bi-color LED video light that can be mounted to your camera for a more documentary style feel, or mounted somewhere off frame to give a little kick of light to certain elements of a scene. They are also powered by AA batteries, making them incredibly easy to keep powered.

Usually just shy of $100, they are currently on sale for $30 off, meaning you can grab them on B&H now for just $69. I have several of these little on-camera style video lights because they are so versatile, and at only $69 I may have to grab myself a couple more.

Find them on B&H here.

The Tiffen Variable ND filter SUCKS!!!!! It works fine at 2 and 4 stops but after that your images slowly start getting a purple “X” across the whole image as you turn the ND from 5-8 making it useless. At 8 stops the purple “x” is so visible it over powers everything else. Save your money and don’t get one.
