Build Your Own 2-axis DIY MoVI Camera Gimbal for around $100?

By Anthony Thurston on June 14th 2013

The film world was changed (or so I hear) earlier this year when the MoVI was announced. The ability to get steady shots with minimal effort sent shock-waves throughout the film industry. The only catch was the price tag, they want $15,000 for the thing. This, sadly, will make the MoVI unavailable to the vast majority of budget conscious or low budget filmmakers.

What If I told you that you could build your own 2-axis MoVI-esq Gimbal for only around $100? Well, I am telling you that you can. It just takes a little knowledge on your part and the means to purchase the correct parts.

ISO1200 recently did a great article detailing just how to find the parts needed to assemble your own DIY MoVI device. If you are interested in learning more head on over to their post and check it out. It’s a good read.

I personally wont be attempting to build my own DIY MoVI, I simply don’t have a use for it nor the technical know how to get it done. But if you do, or are willing to learn then this is a great option that can and will save you quite a bit over the $15,000 being asked for the real thing.

What are your thoughts? Is a DIY MoVI in your future? Let us know in a comment below.
