Bride Walks Down the Aisle with Her Father…and Google Glass

By Hanssie on December 31st 2013

For a bride, the wedding day can be quite stressful. Being the center of attention, having everyone fuss over you, your closest family and friends all around to celebrate a momentous day in your life. Plus, you have to do it all in uncomfortable shoes. It usually is quite a blur.

One technology loving bride decided that she wanted to remember walking down the aisle and have the “most intimate moment of [her] life” captured. So, she wore her trusty Google Glass to ensure that she wouldn’t forget the big moment. “All my friends told me they were so emotional that they actually forgot walking down the aisle. This was an experience I never wanted to forget.”

Jessica Kuan married Steven Soong a few months ago and earned the dubious title of first bride to “publicly walk down the aisle while wearing Google Glass” according to Mashable. She was a part of “Ok Glass, I Do,” a project that “showcases and provides commentary on, the impact that the increasing prevalence  of wearable technology has on our culture.”

Google Glass is a pair of glasses that looks a little like a Bluetooth headset, but on your face. It is a wearable computer with an optical head mounted display that doesn’t quite fit in with the usual wedding attire.

Not sure this trend is going to catch on, but I’ll pin it to my “Fairy Tale Wedding” Pinterest board, just in case.

Google glass is the new iPhone/Instagram…great…yawn. I guess this is unique because it is her wedding day(a very important moment you only get to experience once), however, Google glass seems like it is going to produce a lot of the same content as when I see people just walking down the sidewalk in NYC just holding their camera…recording their every mundane step. I feel bad for the folks forced to watch that awful video later.

No matter how much some Trekkies simply LOVE Jeri Ryan as Seven on Star Trek: Voyager; there ain’t no way I’m saying “I do” to the fracking Borg. (I know, I’m mixing up Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica references. No need to flame away. Unless of course, you just can’t help yourself. In that case, flame away.) Get that implant off your face. You’re completely ruining your wedding pictures. POV videography should remain in the realm of pron (intentional misspelling) where it has been used to great dramatic effect, moved plot points along, and improved the overall quality of story telling.
