[REWIND: FROM MEDICINE TO TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY: BEHIND THE PASSION OF WEERAPONG CHAIPUCK]
Two years ago, Lauren quit her job as a chef to explore her passion for photography, specifically on Instagram. She had already amassed quite a large following and saw the potential in the popular social media platform. In an interview with news.com, Lauren says,
I had enough money saved to have six months off and explore photography. But on the day I quit my job, I checked my inbox and I already had three massive opportunities for paid work. So I started working right away. Initially I got jobs traveling with journalists and travel writers, and covering the social media for stories. I did a few campaigns with tourism boards. It snowballed from there.
With her hundreds of thousands of followers, companies are clamoring to hire Lauren to send her around the world and take photos, then share them with her fans on Instagram. Lauren is also hosting workshops now and speaking publicly about her journey. Making it up as she goes along, Lauren has created the ultimate dream job.
Recently, Lauren took a trip to Cable Beach in Broome, Australia, which was her “favorite job ever.” One of the popular attractions for tourists in Broome is a sunrise/sunset camel ride. Lauren’s photos of these rides have received much attention lately and for good reason; the reflections of the clouds on the wet sand at low tide and the sun peeking through the silhouettes of the single line of camels and their riders on the beaches of Australia makes for a picture perfect scene for travelers and photographers alike.
How do I get a job like Lauren’s?
