We recently shared a video by established cinematographer Mark Vargo. His portfolio places him among the who’s who of the film industry, with credits on The Green Mile, Planet of the Apes, and Ted to name a few. With all his experience, Vargo has set out to inspire and inform the next generation of photographers and videographers.

So, if you ever wanted to learn more about an incident meter or a spot meter, and in what conditions to use each – grab some popcorn and a note pad. You are sure to enjoy.

A Tale of Two Meters | Mark Vargo

As the first video in his ongoing series, Vargo covers two different types of light meters, and pretty much everything you need to know about them and how to use them properly. The material is aimed towards viewers that are intermediate level and have a cursory knowledge of lighting. For that reason, the material can get pretty technical – but it is definitely worth the watch.

Vargo is also working on some new informative videos, and we cannot wait to share them with you. You can also find more of Vargo’s work on his Vimeo page.

Until Next Time . . .

GREAT video! Thanks for sharing. I’ve used my meter for years, but never really understood it fully. I just had an”ah-ha!” moment. This video changes everything for me! Can’t wait for more from the series!
