We have said it before, we will say it again; Sigma has been on a tear the last year or so and it appears that they have no plans of letting up either. Earlier today the guys over at Photo Rumors compiled a list of over 9 Sigma lenses that are rumored to be slated for a 2014 announcement*.
Among the rumored lenses that stood out ot me the most was a new Sigma 24-70mm F/2 lens. I would imagine that this would be sigma’s answer to the wildly popular Tamron 24-70mm. Also on the list is mentioned the possibility of a new 50mm F1.4, a lens that I know many people have been asking Sigma to make since they started in this new direction.
Check out the full listing of rumored Sigma lenses below:
- Sigma 24-105mm f/4 OS
- Sigma 24-70mm f/2 OS HSM
- Sigma 300mm f/2.8 OS
- Sigma 400mm f/2.8 OS
- Sigma 500mm f/4 OS
- Sigma 600mm f/4 OS
- Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG OS
- Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG
- Sigma 50mm f/1.4
These rumored lenses would likely be announced at Photokina 2014, though in reality the announcements could come at any time. If you are a Sigma fan it looks like it will be an exciting year. It could be interesting to see if this increase in lens quality translates into better cameras as well (yes, in case you did not know Sigma also makes DSLR cameras).
What are your thoughts on these rumored lenses? Which ones on the list stand out to you ? let us know in a comment below!
*An announcement of course does not mean that it will be released for sure in 2014, but it is not a stretch to think that several of these rumored lenses will hit shelves in 2014.
