2014 is here and there is a lot to be excited about in the photography industry! Five technology trends that were developing over the past few years are now easily accessible and on the market, or so close you can almost taste them (mmmm…).
Here is a list of five trends that are making their mark:
1. 4K Technology
4K is a digital cinematography standard offering approximately four times the resolution of HD video, with 4,000 pixels of horizontal resolution. It truly gives image makers much more detail and resolution to exploit.

2. Real-World Wireless Cameras
Several recent cameras now offer built-in Wi-Fi features that work in the real world, specifically, online photo-sharing. Admittedly, the technology hasn’t yet achieved perfection, but it’s a significant step toward wireless camera liberation.
3. Bigger Pixels, Better Pictures
For the past few years, the movement towards larger (rather than more) pixels has been circulating through the photography industry. Results have been amazing! Image sensors now have the capability to capture the tiny details of insects in near total darkness.

4. Camera Stabilizers
Whether you’re shooting video footage from your flying eggbeater or racing through traffic while recording HD with your DSLR, the use of gyro-based stabilizers will only increase in 2014.

5. Portable Lighting Power
Many recent portable lighting products make capturing a strobe-lit shot that doesn’t look artificial or blown out, simple, fast and fun! Add to that TTL functionality and no cords and we might just see the advent of a new kind of photographer!
