What’s Great About the SLR Lounge Photography WordPress Blog Theme???

1. Single column with large images – We’ve taken out the sidebar so you and your fans can focus on the display of large, stunning images. I mean shouldn’t a photography blog theme focus primarily on your photography!?

2. Sleek Typography – We’ve utilized a typography with style & consistency.

3. Widgetized Footer - Typical WordPress themes have a widgetized sidebar, taking up precious room on the side of your page. Instead, we’ve moved the widgets to the bottom of the page, allowing your viewers to navigate your page based on tags, recent comments, recent posts, and any other widgets you chose to install.

4. Twitter & Social Bookmarking - We all know the importance of social bookmarking for spreading awareness of your studio and establishing a stronger relationship with our fans. These features allow you to connect via the most popular communities by displaying your most recent Tweets and linking to RSS Feeds, facebook, and Stumble-upon. You can also customize these buttons to link to any site. So all you photography socialites need look no further for a photography blog theme that will enhance your social image!

5. Drop Down Menus – These menus are important for the overall navigation of your site; and they are easily customizable.

6. Simple, Reliable Commenting System – If you’ve experienced the frustrations of the inconsistencies associated with AJAX, you’ll appreciate this simple, intuitive, and reliable commenting system.

7. Borders – This subtle design feature makes your content pop off the page.

8. Tutorials – Although we will not be able to address every question, we’ll provide a vast array of resources to help you implement your photography blog theme, including Adobe Illustrator template files for creating your banner and your background and WordPress installation instructions. We’re constantly working on these resources; and they can be found by clicking here

Hi, do you have one which is for blogspot or blogger? thanks

  • http://www.linandjirsa.com Pye

    Gilbert,

We don’t support Blogspot or Blogger. We actually recommend photographers move away from those platforms for several reasons. The main one being that WordPress is able to give you much more control over the backend of your site including its SEO/SEM (Search Engine Optimization/Search Engine Marketing) preparedness. Furthermore, you are able to customize a WordPress site far more than blogspot/blogger. Plus it’s super easy to setup =).

    Hope this helps.

  • http://www.gilbertwong.com Gilbert Wong

Great for assuring me that. I have been thinkin of migrating a long time but no one able to advise me on that. Your last comment do help~ will do it straight away today~

Will advertise ur blog for sure~! cheerios~!

By the way do u have a Flash Header that the pictures will change on the header of the blog?

  • http://www.linandjirsa.com Pye

Keep an eye out Gilbert, we will be releasing additional versions with flash headers, and other premium options. We will also be releasing several video tutorials on how to install and customize wordpress over the next month or so. So stay tuned.

I love the theme and want to implement it into the blog section of my site. I am starting to have a lot of content, so what I’m afraid of is not having a professional convert my existing theme to it.

    Any ideas?

Love the theme.. am planning on using it for two blogs…

I was wondering if it was possible to download the theme WITH the sidebar however??

    Many thanks

  • CS

is it possible that i change the banner in the header to use slideshow javascript (dont want to use flash)?

  • http://www.nancylarystudios.com Nancy

This looks like a great theme!

I do blog customization for photographers. Are there any type of terms of use I should be aware of?

Thanks for sharing this. I’m sure it will be extremely popular!

  • http://www.linandjirsa.com admin

    Nancy,

We simply ask that you keep the credit link in the footer. Otherwise, you are free to modify and edit the theme however you like.

  • http://www.photosparks.com Catherine Oostdyk

I’ve been having trouble since I installed/activated the theme. WordPress keeps switching my theme back to the default theme. Is there something wrong with the theme’s compatibility with the newest WP updates?

Until I know what’s going on, I’ve had to revert to a plain theme =(

  • Pye

    Catherine,

The theme has been tested in all the new versions of WP. The only thing I can say is make sure you have run through the entire install instructions. If it’s still not working, you can try linking the blog here so we can check it out. Perhaps the community can help figure it out.

  • http://www.photosparks.com Catherine Oostdyk

    Here’s it is: http://www.photosparks.com/blog/

I’ve re-read the install instructions and didn’t see anything that I’d missed. It will appear fine for a few hours and then I’ll go back to check on it in the evening and it’ll be back at the default. When I go into the WP-Admin page, it shows that the SLR Lounge theme is still activated. To get it to come back up, I’ve been activating my old theme, then re-activating the SLR Lounge one. Then, it will work fine again after a couple minutes. Very strange….

  • http://www.linandjirsa.com admin

    Catherine,

From the looks of your site, it looks like there are some additional plugins installed from the way I see the images loading. I am thinking it may be some of the additional stuff you have installed causing the problem as your issue is definitely a first. I would recommend removing and deactivating all plugins, installing the theme, and see if that works.

  • http://www.photosparks.com Catherine Oostdyk

I’m guessing it was the lazy load plug-in. Thanks for the suggestion! As soon as I deactivated them, it popped back properly.

  • http://www.linandjirsa.com admin

Glad to be of help Catherine =)

  • Julia

Any chance of a Typepad compatible version in the future?! :)

  • Pye

    Julia,

Most likely not. We support WordPress because it is the most powerful and most popular blogging platform. There are not enough Typepad photography users for us to create a Typepad theme, sorry =(

We do however recommend you switch to WordPress for various reasons including the various themes available, plugins, ability to optimize for search engines, etc. We also have all the instructions you need in video and text format to help you get through the installation which is really not bad at all.

  • Hagen

Great theme! It’s much easier to use and configure than another theme I have that’s similar. I’m not a noob, but I like the comments you insert in the code. Makes it easy for folks to make adjustments. Took a while for Twitter to resolve, but all’s good. :)

  • LVC

Nice theme. I’ve customized it to suit my needs, however I have this script info appearing below the “leave a reply logged in as” area. I can’t figure out why it’s showing or where to change it. Thanks!

Thanks! I have been wanting a cleaner simpler wordpress theme and was really excited to find yours! I had no clue when that my interest in photography would cause me to have to learn so much about code! Thanks for making it simple for newbies like me.

  • http://daniellehuddlestonphotography.com Danielle

Is there an way to put a picture next to the studio information?

  • http://www.lightboxstudios.co.uk Antony B-C

    Hi.

I’m having a little issue with the Twitter side of things. Which Twitter plugin do you recommend for compatibility with the above feed?

BTW, I’m loving the Theme. Clean, Crisp, Uncluttered – Just how it should be!

Keep up the good work. You guys are an inspiration.

  • http://www.danielcaro.com/blog Daniel

Thanks a lot for the theme, it’s just what I’ve been looking for! I wanted to kwnow how can I put the sliding-thumbnails for “Featured Content” you have in yours, or is it off limits? Or some kind of slideshow header? I’m really new to this, so excuse any obvious question.
    Thanks again!

  • http://www.fernleafphotography.com Alice

I just upgraded to this theme and I cannot THANK YOU enough!! I am not tech savvy and even I could figure out how to make this think work. It looks great and I just love it!

  • sarah

I don’t do twitter, is it possible just to leave that feature out, or will there just be a big empty box there? ;)

  • Heidi

I just downloaded this template and for the life of me I cannot install it. There is no option in the Appearance menu to install a new blog theme. Any help???

  • MarieSam

Heidi, that’s my same problem!! I’m thinking you have to upgrade to a custom CSS account to do this???

  • http://www.linandjirsa.com Pye

    Heidi and Marie,

You cannot use wordpress.com hosting to use this theme. You need to setup a custom wordpress blog using your own hosting account. We recommend you use Bluehost. You can click on anything on this site marked bluehost to take you to their site where you can sign up for hosting. Then, from there, you can install wordpress through the bluehost admin panel, then you can install the theme.

  • MarieSam

    Got it, thanks Pye!!!! :)

just wanted to say thanks for the theme – works great!

  • Angelo

Thanks for this theme. I found you on twitter. I am still learning the optimization of it. Thanks again.

  • MarieSam

Almost have my blog up and running with the great SLR theme, but quick question!! For the text (on the upper left) over the banner image — the color is set for gray, how do I change this to black? The gray text just doesn’t show over the image I’m using.

  • http://richardsartwork.com Ramona

Hubby & I love your slrlounge theme. Is it possible to add exif data to each photo?

  • JohnV

Go into style.css file. Find “body {” without to quotes of course.

    Change #666 to #000

    Hey there,
Had a question about the drop down menus in the header of the theme. I want to have certain pages drop down from one item on the header like the “Categories” link does in the default setting (wp_list_categories). I figured out how to change that drop down menu to show a list of pages, but I don’t want all the pages to show up.

For example, I want there to be a drop down menu under “Pictures” to show different portfolio pages, but not my “About” or “Pricing” pages. Is there a way to group pages so only certain pages show up in the wp_list_pages drop down menu?

    Thanks, love the theme.

    Beck

    • Stef

How can I change that drop down menu to show a list of pages? I want to have in the Menu a Side Gallery, and this with a dropdown Menu with Subpages Family, Wedding…
Where and how can I make the changes to see the Drop Down like in archives and Categories?
