Ingo, sorry about the caps. I edited them out. Old habit that needs to go.

About the hearsay though, can you be specific as to what exactly is inaccurate? Every issue I mentioned is a well-documented issue with past cameras, addressed by an official press release by Canon / Nikon, and in some cases even a massive recall. There were official recalls for the Nikon D70, the Nikon D2X or D2H, the Canon 5D mk1, and Canon 1D mk3, off the top of my head.

I hope I haven't offended anyone with my claim that Canon has a higher number of serious camera issues than Nikon. I'd be happy to see a complete list of every official recall ever that proves otherwise. ;-)

The bottom line is that you run a risk if you buy one of the first new cameras off the shelf. And as a full-time professional, I prefer not to take that risk until all the bugs are worked out. I believe that every other working pro out there will at least see the reason in this logic, even if they are also among the "waitlist fanatics"...

Graham, honestly in my opinion there are not many reasons to switch anymore. The 5D mk3 is such an awesome camera! The only reasons I still prefer my D700 are mostly personal preference in control and customization. NOT image quality or overall performance.

So, before you even remotely consider switching, get to know the mk3.
