We have this great macro image that was shot on a Canon 5D Mark III with a 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens.
In this image we have the couples rings set over their fingerprints on their wedding day. We’re going to start this edit using the “01-30 BASE – VIVID: 30a. Vivid – Import + Profile (RESET)” preset.
After the import preset, we’re going to apply the “01-30 BASE – VIVID: 31a. Light Crush – Color” preset. Then we’re going to raise the Exposure so we can a nice white point in the diamonds.
The last thing we’re going to do is add a Radial Filter, and if you’re in Lightroom 4 you can get the same effect by using an Adjustment brush or Lens Vignetting. We’re going to use our “03 Burn (Darken) -0.5 Stops)” and pull out the Radial Filter from the center of the diamond. Then we’re going to adjust the Feather to 60 to give a nice subtle vignette effect.
In our Develop Settings we have our Exposure set to +.43 to get a nice bright diamond. Our presets raised the Contrast, Clarity, Vibrance and Saturation to make this image vivid and lively. The Highlights and Whites were dropped slightly to bring back some of the midtone highlights. We also have a subtle contrast boosting “S” curve in the Tone Curve. Here are what the Develop settings look like after our presets are applied.
This is what our image looks like before and after our presets are applied.
