Featured Projects August 1st 2012 3:06 PM 19 Comments

Annie Leibovitz and Disney just released some great photos of the new Disney campaign to promote the Disney theme parks. This isn’t the first time Annie worked with celebrities and Disney, if you recall her Disney Dream Portrait Series.

The new photos will be used as a special insert in fall issues of “GQ,” “O” The Oprah Magazine,” “People,” “People En Espanol,” “Vanity Fair,” “Real Simple,” “Essence,” and “InStyle.”

So check out Annie’s new photos, as well as the Associate Press’s behind the scene photographs, courtesy of The Greenfield Reporter.

Part of what was amazing about Annie Leibovitz’s work is that it was done in camera. Now the backgrounds are composited? Yes, still amazing but not quite so…

    Annie moves to Elinchrom?

Annie used this kind of elinchorm softbox for a few years ago, with profoto head, like a lot of photographers

Yup. It’s actually something I see on big shoots I assisted. Assisted for Adam Olszewski and there were 3 Elinchrom Octas with Profoto heads. Great light, too!

Any idea on which canon lens that is 24-70, 17-40, 24-105? Anyone?

Too easy to add all the mood and background in post… a great photographer should find the way to shoot on proper locations… otherwise the value of the picture is all due to the graphic retoucher!

This is Disney. She is creating a fairy tale. What she needs to create is not availabe in reality. She is getting everything she can right in camera or those guys would not be standing in the water with a reflector.

she does nice work – but most of what I see here is basically a version of CGI – it doesn’t seem “Annie” to me, it seems Disney.
