Sometimes you come across a project that just makes you stop and think about life. As you may no doubt be aware, yesterday was Mother’s Day and while I was sifting through all of the Mother’s Day posts I came across this gem.
Seattle based photographer Chamonix Thurston-Rattue (No relation to myself) recently started her 101 years of beauty project, where she plans to photograph 101 women ages 0-101. The first featured shoot that she shared on her blog a few days ago was featuring four generations of women from the same family- ages 101, 79, 57, and 29. Now that is a spread! I just love that you can see the whole progression of this family summed up in these four women.
“Over the next two years, I’m photographing of 101 women, ages 0-101. The project is called “101 Years of Beauty” and it celebrates the unique beauty of each stage of a woman’s life. The final portraits will be published into a hardback book. I am especially excited about the multiple generations that I’m photographing because it allows me to meet and photograph a group of women who are all currently at these different stages in life and to really appreciate the relationships they have with one another — it really captures the essence of the whole project. I am also on the lookout for women in their 100′s (older than 101) so I can make the book even longer! There is no upper limit! I still have plenty of ages to fill and I’m welcoming volunteers and referrals!”
